LAND sales for a long-awaited development on a former Department of Defence site in Hazelmere will start next month.
ASX-listed residential property developer Cedar Woods Properties will start selling lots in its Bushmead development in July, six years after buying the 273ha property off Midland Road.
Since acquiring the site in July 2010, the developer has managed the project through environmental and planning approvals.
It plans to retain about two thirds – 185ha – of the site as pristine, virgin bushland with the remaining 88ha for housing.
The project is expected to deliver up to 800 homes on a range of block sizes over the next eight to 10 years.
Cedar Woods WA manager Ben Rosser said the company would develop a master planned community that would integrate well with the surrounding area.
“The benefit of having control of such a large and unique property means we can design the project to be of the highest quality,” he said.
“With only a third of the land being used for housing, Bushmead offers home buyers urban modern living in an exclusive, natural setting.
“The natural beauty of the site in terms of its existing vegetation and topography lends itself to a sustainable development and delivery of something very special.
“Registration is now open and we anticipate strong interest from customers.”
