The Lesmurdie resident will prepare a traditional three-course feast for aged care residents at Mercy Place Villa Maria.
I love my job and so spending the day cooking Christmas dinner for residents isnt really like working, Mrs Ferguson said.
Its a pleasure to make sure those seniors who are unable to be with their families on the day have the best Christmas possible.
In many ways, I think of them as part of my own family; they are beautiful people and so spending time with them on Christmas Day is very special in itself.
Mrs Ferguson has worked as a qualified cook for almost 30 years and will be in good company on Christmas Day working alongside nurses, carers and kitchen helpers at the not-for-profit centre.
Mercy Health WA State manager Anita Ghose said in many ways care staff were the unsung heroes of the community during the festive season.
We are extremely fortunate to have many committed and dedicated staff only too happy to go the extra mile to care for our residents and also help inject a little Christmas spirit into their day.
