Cr McDonnell said he was looking forward to the chairman’s role to continue the collaborative planning approach the EMRC brings together with the member councils.

“The EMRC has a long history of implementing regional strategies and projects for the benefit of Perth’s eastern region and making it a vibrant powerhouse for the WA economy,” he said.

The EMRC comprises the six member councils of Bayswater, Bassendean, Belmont, Kalamunda, Mundaring and Swan.

EMRC Chief Executive Officer Peter Schneider welcomed and congratulated the six new councillors and five deputies who were appointed to the EMRC following the recent October local government elections.

“We will be holding a full induction for the new councillors on November 23 to bring them up to speed with what our core business is, how we support their member councils plus the new and exciting projects that are planned,” he said.

“There is a lot of information for new councillors to take in when they begin their roles with the EMRC so we aim to make that process as user-friendly as possible.”
