Class of ’80’s big reunion

They all turn 50 this year.

To mark the milestone, former student Lesley Bell (nee Gribben) is organising a reunion on November 2 at the Kalamunda Hotel.

She is calling on former students who went to the school from Year 8 in 1976 until Year 12 in 1980. ‘We caught up for the school’s 50th anniversary in 2010, but we thought this year would be a great opportunity to catch up again,’ she said.

‘We had a really big school . . . this was before Lesmurdie High School was built, so there were about 1700 students.’

Mrs Bell said Facebook-savvy former students had been keeping each other up-to-date with their news for a while now, but there were still some people who had not been heard from for a while.

‘When we had a reunion in 1995, it was a chore to track |people down. This time it is much easier,’ she said.

‘We had about 90 people attend, but this year we are hoping to get most people who were invited. About 200 invitations have gone out.

‘We also want to hear from everyone who was in our grade and even those who left school from Year 10 onwards.’

Mrs Bell hoped former students could spread the word about the event so those who no longer live in the Perth Hills had the opportunity to come along.
