The Toodyay girl will compete with 19 other hopefuls next week and hopes to be one of four who will go on to compete for the national title at the Gold Coast in April.

Ms Jolly said she saw the competition advertised online. ‘I had nothing to lose,’ she said.

‘I am hoping that by getting my story out there I can encourage other young girls in the Wheatbelt to give things like this a go.

‘Just because we live in the country doesn’t make us any more restricted than anyone else.’

Those competing in the event must excel in five categories, including photogenic, best interview, fashion wear, swimsuit and evening gown.

Ms Jolly, who started planning for the finals last year, has 30 friends and family coming to the Forrest Centre, in Perth, next Thursday to cheer her on.

As part of the competition, Ms Jolly has been raising funds for the Make A Wish Foundation.
