Easter Hills SHS vandalism: duo charged, refused bail

TWO men charged with $100,000 of criminal damage and aggravated burglary at a Mt Helena school will appear in Midland Magistrates on October 11.

The men, aged 19 and 22, both of Wundowie, were refused bail in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Midland Detectives said vandals broke into Eastern Hills Senior High School overnight last Thursday and smashed 220 windows, damaged computers and flooded the gymnasium and art room.

Department of Education spokesman Jim Webb said that damage to the school was extensive.

“Vandalism of this scale is highly unusual and is upsetting for the whole school community, who are very proud of their school,” he said.

The extent of the damage forced the school to ask parents to make other arrangements for children last Friday.
