Elderly man charged with grievous bodily harm following Northam altercation

POLICE have charged an elderly man with grievous bodily harm following an altercation in Northam yesterday.

The 78-year-old man became involved in an altercation with a 38-year-old man who was known to him at a residence on Chidlow Street around 4pm.

The victim allegedly received several lacerations to his body and was conveyed to Northam Hospital in a serious condition, before he was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

His alleged attacker is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
