FOUR supermarkets in the Swan Hills region are celebrating after being named as finalists in this year’s Market City WA Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year Award in the National Regional Supermarket Category.

Coles Ellenbrook, Midland, Kalamunda and Mundaring were all announced recently.

Last month’s awards night was hosted by Market West at the Crown Ballroom and attended by almost 500 people.

The awards cover seven different categories and match WA’s top fresh fruit and vegetable retailers.

Coles Ellenbrook store manager Geoff O’Sullivan said finishing as a finalist was a testament to the store’s passion for supplying a wide range of produce that supports WA growers.

“It’s great to be acknowledged for our commitment towards providing produce that our customers can count on as being fresh, high-quality and locally grown,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

Chamber of Fruit and Vegetable Industries WA member services manager Inci Humberstone said that this year’s pool of entries has been one of the largest in the award’s history.

“This year we have had 108 entries, with categories including independent metro and regional retailers all the way through to the national supermarkets,” she said.

“Each was independently judged by mystery shoppers on quality, customer service, consumer information and shop presentation.

“Congratulations to Geoff and the team at Coles Ellenbrook, as well as the teams at Midland, Kalamunda and Mundaring for embracing the concept and demonstrating a top quality fresh produce department.”
