Helitacs tackle blazes east of Perth with fears firebug at large

FIREFIGHTERS and helitacs are racing to fires in Darlington and Midland with fears a serial arsonist is at work.

The fires were reported within minutes of each other, with the first reported at 11.57am in Darlington near the corner of Victor Road and Clayton Road.

Extra crews have been called to the fire which is burning in scrub on both sides of the road.

The second fire in Midland was reported at 12.12pm near the corner of Lloyd Street and Clayton St in Midland.

It follows a fire yesterday afternoon in Koongamia that started on the corner of Clayton Street and Jinda Road.

The fire burnt through 14 hectares of bush and threatened homes in Bellevue and Helena Valley.
