Federal Government grant to provide better healthcare in Northam

PATIENTS in Northam will benefit from an improved healthcare facility thanks to a $110,000 windfall.

Northam Family Practice will use the Federal Government grant to convert a storage area into three new consulting rooms, add a therapy room and another waiting room.

People with a disability will welcome the installation of a ramp, internal chair lift and appropriate bathroom at the health centre.

Other improvements will include the purchase of some basic medical and video conferencing equipment.

Pearce MHR Porter said that better facilities will allow more doctors, nurses and other health workers to get hands-on training in general practices in rural and remote areas.
