Fire crews battling Helena Valley fire in Perth hills

UPDATE: A bushfire advice has been issued for eastern parts of Helena Valley.

Western Power crews are on Victor Road tending to a fallen power pole, but the Department of Fire and Emergency Services won’t confirm yet if that is what started the fire.

The fire itself is contained but not controlled.

It is moving slowly in an easterly direction towards the Avonlea Riding School.

Clayton and Victor roads are closed to motorists. There is a lot of smoke in the area.

EARLIER: FIRE crews are at the scene of a fire that is approaching a pony club in the Perth hills.

The fire was reported at 7.55am this morning on the corner of Clayton Road and Victor Road in Helena Valley.

EASE WA said firefighters and helitacs were at the scene and the fire was heading towards the Avonlea Riding School.

“There are two fires, one is contained and is being blacked out.

“The second fire is heading east towards the pony club and crews are working to stop the head fire.”

Residents close to the fire have been told to stay indoors, close windows and turn off their evaporative airconditioners.
