FIRE destroyed a $400,000 timber house in Boya early on Wednesday morning, with strong winds spreading smoke throughout the area.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services asked motorists to reduce speed and where possible avoid the southeastern part of Boya.
People in the area bounded by Marriott Road, Coulston Road, Approach Road and Clayton Road were warned about smoke from the fire near Boya Crescent.
A DFES spokeswoman said a single occupant inside the rented two-storey house escaped injury.
