Firefighters tackle bush blaze in Darlington

FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a blaze in Darlington.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a bushfire advice for people near the Boya Quarry Reserve.

“Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes,” the DFES fire alert said. “There is a lot of smoke in the area.

“Firefighters are on the scene, actively fighting the fire, building containment lines.”

Vehicle control points have been set up at:

• Maslin Crescent and Glenn Road.

• Benong Road and Owen Road.

• Pine Terrace and Sandover Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully because of the smoke.

Total fire bans are in place today.
