Fishy art up for charity auction

Organiser Jacqui Crossley said the theme of the works had to be based on food and it was somewhat of a challenge to do something a large cross section of people with varying degrees of skills could join in and feel part of the process.

But it was eventually decided their theme would be based on fish and chips.

The group used chips from the freezer and some sardines and blue spot fish purchased from Hills Seafood in Mundaring to apply paint to their canvases.

‘It was such a great experience,’ Crossley said.

‘We painted in the Dome Cafe in Mundaring on a Sunday evening.

‘We had staff participation and some patrons even joined in to help after they had finished their meals,’ she said.

The group produced five high-quality, finished paintings that will be auctioned at Madhatters on Milston, in West Swan Road, in Henley Brook at 4.30pm, on November 4.

All proceeds will go to charity organisation beyondblue.
