Northam Airfield plays a crucial role in the Avon Region.

Royal Flying Doctor Service aircraft use the airfield for night-time mercy flights, which can happen up to four nights a week.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services water bombers have refilling tanks at the airfield and base themselves at Northam during the fire season.

Northam Aero Club president Les Ballantyne encouraged local residents to come along to the open day.

‘There will be lots of interesting things to see and do for all the family,’ Mr Ballantyne said.
