Forrestfield: police officer injured after stolen car crashes into his vehicle during pursuit

A POLICE officer was injured when a stolen car crashed into his vehicle during a chase in Forrestfield last night.

About 7.40pm, police saw a stolen Ford Falcon on Dundas Road.

They allege the driver sped off, starting a chase involving the police helicopter.

The Ford collided with a police car near a traffic island on Cumberland Road in Forrestfield.

The driver fled on foot and was apprehended by police in the yard of a neighbouring house.

The driver, a 20-year-old Camillo man, has been charged with failing to comply with a direction to stop, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, no authority to drive and stealing a motor vehicle.

A 19-year-old female passenger from Beckenham has also been charged with stealing a motor vehicle.

The driver was taken to Royal Perth Hospital while the police officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
