Artist Gail Dell, who organised the exhibition at the bi-annual Perth Autumn Festival and Vintage Weekend last year, is supporting bushfire victims through the auction.
‘Last year, we helped the RSPCA, so when it came time to organise this exhibition I thought right, we need to help those people affected by the fires,’ she said.
‘I didn’t know anyone affected directly but, as a rider, I heard of people who had to leave their horses and other animals behind, so I can sympathise.
‘Our hearts go out to Parkerville residents and we wish to send them a strong message of support, so that they know that they are not alone.’
Dell said when she put the word out to her artist friends on Facebook about contributing to the exhibition, she got an overwhelming response.
‘I have been touched, I have even had four pieces sent over from Melbourne,’ she said.
‘We have 20 pieces altogether, including one of my own; it is of a field of poppies and called Lest We Forget ” I felt it just captured the theme of fire-ravaged community.’
