The stunning two-part artwork by West Australian artist Len Zuks is a poignant reminder of this year's 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.
York RSL president Dave Jones and his committee invite residents and interested community groups to bring their fundraising ideas to a meeting next month.
"It would be preferable for community groups in York to form a fundraising committee," Mr Jones said.
The target is $75,000 and the local Bendigo Bank has backed the commemorative campaign by pledging $5000.

The first fundraising meeting will take place at 6pm on Friday, June 12, at the RSL Hall 164 Avon Terrace York.
