Gidgegannup bushfire contained and controlled

RESIDENTS in the western part of Gidgegannup are advised the bushfire that threatened lives and homes yesterday is contained and under control.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) issued the latest advice today for people north of Toodyay Road, east of Campersic Road, south of Gogulger Stock Route and west of O’Brien Road.

Firefighters are patrolling the area and mopping up more than 60ha of burnt bushland.

About 50 volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service and Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services firefighters attended the blaze.

The cause of the fire was accidental and is not under investigation by the police arson squad.
