Gidgegannup fire: drivers urged to avoid Lillie Rd and Hargraves Cres

DRIVERS should avoid Lillie Road and Hargraves Crescent in Gidgegannup while firefighters work on a bushfire and strengthen containment lines.

There is a lot of smoke in the area and though there is no immediate danger, people in the area are urged to keep up to date in case the situation changes.

Drivers are asked to turn on their headlights and drive slowly through the area or pull over until the smoke clears with their hazard lights on.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services has said the cause of the fire is accidental.

Residents should close doors and windows and turn off evaporative airconditioners, but keep water running through the system.

People with a respiratory conditions affected by smoke should contact their doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.
