Deputy principal Simone Harris said the decision to this year broaden their school service had been welcomed by the Mundaring RSL.

“It is another wonderful opportunity and an important event for the community of Gidgegannup to come together for a respectful service,” she said.

“The students also have the opportunity to listen to stories of the veterans, which is such a rich experience.”

Mrs Harris said 23 local community groups had been invited to attend.

“Kalamunda Pipe Band is kindly providing the Lone Piper and Last Post will be played by a previous Gidgegannup primary student.”

She said the Eastern Hills Cadets group would be in charge of the flag raising and the Mundaring RSL would provide an address and ode.

The April 27 service will begin at the Bunning Road school at 10am.
