Gidgegannup scrub fire brought under control after burning for 20 hours

A SCRUB fire that tore through scrubland in Gidgegannup has been put out by Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) personnel after blazing for about 20 hours.

DFES was called to the fire near Toodyay and Stoneville roads about 2.40pm yesterday.

A DFES spokeswoman said 15 appliances were dispatched to contain the blaze, which was brought under control by about 10.30am today.

She said the fire was accidental and did not put any residential properties under threat.

DFES has issued an all clear for the area with services attending throughout the day to monitor.

Another scrub fire ignited about 9.40am this morning near Petworth and Roxburgh drives in The Vines.

At this stage the cause is unknown.

DFES had the small blaze under control by about 10.05am.
