Lynn GriersonHills Avon Valley Gazette

A YOUNG Gooseberry Hill family escaped a house fire unhurt early this morning after a fire alarm alerted an owner to the danger.

Volunteer firefighters from Kalamunda joined career fire crews from Welshpool and Murdoch at 7.22am and soon had the blaze under control.

An owner of the single-storey house in Parke Road said the fire was mainly in one room, but the roof had started to collapse.

She said she did not know how the fire started and was relieved her family was safe.
