Help shape town plan

Lynn GriersonHills Avon Valley Gazette

A two-week consultation period has begun, with project managers Calibre Consulting launching an online survey.

Shire President David Lavell encouraged the community to help the Shire develop a plan to revitalise the Mundaring town centre into a vibrant and sustainable township.

Cr Lavell said there were two phases to the project.

Phase one involved the preparation of a Mundaring town centre masterplan.

“The masterplan will articulate a vision for the town centre’s public and private spaces and explore development scenarios and the various trade-offs and recommend a preferred way forward,” he said.

“Phase two involves the preparation and finalisation of a Mundaring town centre structure plan, which will become the Shire’s statutory planning tool to steer private development towards the collective vision of the area.”

Cr Lavell said focus groups met Shire planning officers last year to provide feedback on the current and future needs and demands for the area.

The community consultation is open to the community online.
