Hometown hopes for cyclist

Staff ReporterHills Avon Valley Gazette

Winner of the Tour of the Great South Coast last August, Perth-born Giacoppo said he was excited to see WA back on the National Road Series calendar.

‘To race in your own back yard in front of a home crowd ” there is no better way to do it,’ he said.

‘I know the roads well, so hopefully that should be a bit of an advantage.’

Giacoppo’s 2012 break-out season earned him the National Criterium Championship title before finishing runner-up at last year’s NRS behind South Australia’s Luke Davison.
