Include pets in bushfire plans says Shire of Mundaring

Lynn GriersonHills Avon Valley Gazette

OWNERS are reminded to include their animals in a bushfire plan and to think twice before buying a new pet for Christmas.

Shire of Mundaring President David Lavell said animal welfare was a top priority for council rangers.

“As we enter another bush fire season, it’s important your survival plan also includes the actions you will take to best protect your pets if a bushfire threatens your property,” he said.

He urged people thinking about buying a pet as a gift to consider the costs of vaccinations, microchipping and sterilisation.
