Institute’s big tick for hi-tech training

Department of Training and Workforce Development director general Ruth Shean congratulated the Northam-based vocational education provider for a listing in the WA Large Training Provider of the Year category.

"CYO'Connor Institute stands out in its field through the high level of excellence it achieves," Ms Shean said.

"It demonstrates the opportunities that high-quality training can provide, allowing West Australians to gain valuable job-ready skills," she said.

The institute offers a range of qualifications, with e-learning tools embedded, to deliver across many industry areas and encourage greater participation.

The institute's Aboriginal skills development plan has attracted more students attending courses at Certificate III level and above.

The institute has received recognition for its Small Business Management Course, which has been delivered for the past three years at Acacia Prison.

More recently, the education provider implemented a Migrant Friendly Initiative to meet the growing demand of migrants seeking access to education and training.
