High Wycombe locals to meet for protest letter day

High Wycombe resident Lisa Cooper said there had been one public meeting in the area, which was well attended and people had been informed about the health risks from contaminated sludge and other materials that will be cleaned from the site if the City of Swan approves the order issued by the Department of Environmental Regulation.

“This meeting is to help people to write letters to the DER regarding the clean-up,” she said.

Kalamunda Shire Councillor Sara Lohmeyer will also speak at the meeting and assist locals with their letters.

“All High Wycombe residents are urged to attend this meeting, ensuring that the residents of Jacaranda Springs’ voices will be heard,” Cr Lohmeyer said.

Mrs Cooper said it was of vital importance that the DER received as many letters as possible. She said the community wanted an expert risk assessment done.

The shire also asked for this at the last council meeting held on November 23 and demanded that Swan kept it informed of all developments.

The public meeting will be held at the Jacaranda Springs Park (Foxton Boulevard) at 10am, near the barbecue area.
