MARRON poachers fled without their nets when they were disturbed in the act at a Gidgegannup property last night.
Gidgegannup Rural Watch co-ordinator Peter Jensen said the north Gidgegannup property owner returned home to find poachers at their dam.
“The owner has a dam at the front of their property and over the years they have had poachers in there,” he said.

“On this occasion they have come home late to find them inside their gate with a vehicle parked on the verge outside.
“The vehicle registration was taken and passed on to police.”
Mr Jensen said the theft of marron from dams was a problem in the district around Christmas and the summer months.
“It’s stealing and trespassing on property,” he said.
“The other concern is people have stock – cattle and sheep – on their property and poachers cut fences or leave gates open and stock gets out.”
He said the Rural Watch group disseminated information to residents and worked closely with local police.
