FOR more than half a century Bob Melville has been cultivating award-winning roses and now the public has the opportunity to learn from the master on how to grow the best blooms in the business.

The international rose judge was just 10 when he started working for his father in Carmel growing roses and tomatoes, before starting Melville Nurseries in 1977.

He later became president of the National Rose Society of Australia and the Rose Society of Western Australia.

His blooms have received the Australian Rose Award, the highest and most prestigious award in the industry.

On Sunday, July 1 the Kalamunda Farmers Market will host Mr Melville as he runs a rose pruning and care workshop.

The demonstration will run from 10am.
