A MARRIED couple previously employed by the Department of Child Protection will face court later this year collectively charged with more than 30 child sexual assault offences.
Midvale residents Stephen John Gale and Susan Gale were separately charged with the historical allegations that allegedly occurred at group homes between the mid 1990s and early 2000s.
Following an extensive police investigation, Mr Gale was charged with 18 counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13, seven counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13, and one count of possessing child exploitation material.
It has been alleged that the offences occurred while Mr Gale was employed at the Doubleview Group Home and Darlington Hostel.
Mr Gale, at an earlier date, entered pleas of not guilty to eight counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13, not guilty to five indecent dealings with a child under 13, and not guilty to possession of child exploitation material.
Midland detectives charged Mrs Gale with five counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13 and two counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13.
It’s been alleged that the 60-year-old sexually abused a six-year-old boy in 1996 while working at the Doubleview Group Home.
The pair appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday and will reappear on October 19 for a committal mention.
