MUNDARING Arena’s official opening will showcase the many uses of the Shire’s newest facility at a free community event.
Event co-ordinator Neridah Zlatnik said the $10.1 million building was much more than a sports centre.
“We want to highlight the many other ways this incredible facility can be used by the community and local businesses for workshops, trade shows, awards nights, youth activities, carnivals, conferences… there are so many possibilities,” she said.

Each space will be transformed with free activities to celebrate community, local government and business working in partnership.
Basketball, hockey and netball clubs raised thousands of dollars for the arena and Bendigo Bank in Mundaring pledged $100,000 towards the project.
The State Government provided $3 million and the Shire of Mundaring funded the remainder.
In addition to two large sports halls, the arena features a community room for up to 200 people, a mezzanine for formal occasions, office space and meeting rooms.
Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray will open Mundaring Arena on Sunday, July 15, with three hours of free activities, presentations, sports displays and competitions, including a chance to try wheelchair basketball.
Among the other attractions will be a monster bounce and obstacle course, a gamers cavern, carpet bowls and crafts with volunteers from Mundaring Arts Centre.
