His entry stood out in the youth competition #whatthehill udoin, launched by the Shire of Mundaring last month to kick-start the council’s Instagram account.

Shire President David Lavell said the challenge attracted dozens of great photo and video entries

“We asked youths aged 13 to 18 to submit images and short videos of what they like doing in the Shire,” he said.

“We were delighted with the response and seeing what teens get up to.

“From mountain bike riding to swimming with friends or enjoying a sunset, there were plenty of colourful entries.”

A panel of judges selected the 13-year-old’s snapshot as the winning entry.

“Asher’s photo of himself and a friend floating in the water at Lake Leschenaultia captured exactly what the competition was about and the panel loved the clever caption he included: c’hillin’,” Cr Lavell said.

Judges noted entries by Jet Ventic, who submitted a video of himself doing parkour at his school and Kris White, who impressed with a shot of his karate moves at Mundaring Weir.

Asher received a mini iPad and certificate last week, with runners-up also getting prizes.
