Mundaring Shire reminds pet owners to get them microchipped

Lynn GriersonHills Avon Valley Gazette

PET owners looking for a gift for their furry friends over Easter are encouraged to have them microchipped.

Mundaring Shire President John Daw said under the Dog Act 1976 and Cat Act 2011, pets must be microchipped from three months for a dog and from six months for a cat.

He reminded pet owners to store away seasonal treats because when dogs eat chocolate, they are likely to become seriously ill.

A person who fails to ensure their dog or cat is microchipped is liable for a fine of up to $5000.
