A TOWERING mural of a young boy leaning over his grandfather as he reads him a story is adding beauty and interest to Midland.

World-renowned Dutch duo Telmo Miel completed the project last weekend for the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority’s Railway Square Development before returning home.

Mural project manager Sherrie Wilson said the large-scale piece, at the Midland Railway Workshops, added vibrant colour and interest to one of Perth’s most historic suburbs.

She said she began getting “wonderful feedback” from the community about the work while it was still being installed.

The Midland Railway Workshops along with the rich history of the area inspired the artists.

Ms Wilson said the artwork commented on the importance of storytelling as a way of passing down history and knowledge.

To see it, visit the Railway Workshops opposite the Midland train station.
