New hub for volunteering

VOLUNTEERING WA is opening its first Wheatbelt hub.

It will be in Northam Library, 9am to 4pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, until a more permanent home becomes available.

A referral service for volunteers looking for the perfect position will be a key focus.

Support and training for volunteer community groups also will be available through funding from the Department of Social Services and in partnership with the Shire of Northam.

Other services will include a range of volunteer-related training opportunities for community groups.

York-based hub co-ordinator Tanya Richardson said community groups worked hard to find volunteers.

“It’s an ongoing challenge and we’re here to help,” she said.
