Northam safety initiatives receive State funding grants

Northam Heritage Forum has been assigned $800 to fund their Christmas in July project.

And the Shire of Northam has been awarded $650 for the Naidoc family day.

Ms Harvey said the range of grassroots projects in the round was inspiring.

“There’s a great variety, including a football carnival where the players pledge to drink only water straight after the game,” Mrs Harvey said.

“Importantly all of these projects help to educate the local community about the importance of road safety in WA.”

The community grants program is administered through the Road Safety Commission and funded by the Road Trauma Trust account.

Ms Harvey said the State Government had committed $360,000 to community grants in the 2015-16 financial year.
