Oh what a knight: Mundaring Weir Hotel to host Dawn of the King medieval festival

Lynn GriersonHills Avon Valley Gazette

KNIGHTS will do battle at a medieval festival promising a feast of action in the grounds of the Mundaring Weir Hotel on Saturday.

Perth artist Donovan Fisher said Dawn of the King is the result of a long-held childhood desire to host a medieval festival in the Hills.

Along with battles in full armour will be the chance for would-be knights to find ‘the secret gem of power’ and try their hand with boffer swords in the main arena.

More than 60 performers will entertain the crowds with birds of prey, court jesters, medieval dancers, music and an evening feast with a fire sword fight.

For the young ones, there will be Punch and Judy shows and workshops, and among the stalls will be displays of western leather craft creations.

The event will run from 10am-5pm with tickets and full details available at dawnoftheking.com.au.
