FIRE swept through the derelict building of Undercliffe Private Hospital on Thursday night destroying 70 per cent of the historic property.
About 50 firefighters fought for several hours to bring the flames under control.
A Department of Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said the two-storey building is due for demolition and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
