For mobile phone users on this network, there may be some disruption to services during the upgrade period while essential work is carried out.

The upgrades will deliver faster mobile internet speeds for customers with compatible 4G mobile phones and tablets, while improving customers' 3G as well.

Optus WA state manager Jonathan Conway said it was the first time 4G would be available for Optus customers in Muchea.

"This will provide customers with a faster mobile internet experience and bring competition and choice in 4G services across Australia," he said.

The upgrades are part of a 4G expansion program that will bring a faster network to regional areas across Australia.

Customers will also benefit from a better 3G experience as those with compatible 4G devices move to the 4G data network. Go to optus.com.au/4G.
