“Community kindergartens provide a really great alternative and focus on play-based learning in a safe environment.”
She said many parents were not aware of the cut-off date for enrolment.
“Insufficient enrolments may mean that our local community kindies cannot run next year,” she said.
Mt Helena Community Kindergarten president Narelle Thredgold said community kindergartens have the same curriculum outcomes as school-based kindies.
“They also offer the opportunity to develop strong and personal relationships with the wider community in which the children live,” she said.
Mt Helena Kindy is participating in the Kindergarten and Playgroup Open Day from 9am-noon on Sunday, May 20.
