WA Police are trying to make contact with an unidentified man who they believe is in possession of a live and possibly unstable old hand grenade he found in Chidlow recently.

One of the grenades was brought to the attention of WA Police today.

A statement from police said the grenade had been secured, and found to be live.

“Australian Defence Force personnel have safely removed the grenade from the residence and it will be destroyed at a later date,” the statement said.

“The identity of the man who took the second grenade home is not known and it is more than likely that the grenade in his possession is live and unstable.”

That man is asked not to touch or move the grenade, and is asked to call Police immediately on 131 444 so that arrangements can be made for the Australian Defence Force to safely remove it.
