Police investigating fatal motorcycle crashes in Mundaring and Scotsdale

POLICE are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Mundaring on Sunday morning.

At 10.53am a white 2007 Toyota Hilux towing a box trailer was travelling east on Phillips Road while a 1978 black Yamaha motorcycle was travelling west.

The Toyota started to turn right into Coppin Road, driving into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle collided with the front left corner of the Toyota, ejecting the rider who landed in the trailer.

The 55-year-old male rider received life threatening injuries and was taken to the St John of God Hospital in Midland where he later died.

Major Crash investigators are seeking witnesses who may have seen the car or motorcycle in the Mundaring area around the time of the crash to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigators are also seeking information regarding another fatal motorcycle crash in Scotsdale, near Denmark, on Saturday morning.

About 8.30am, a 61-year-old man was riding his silver Aprilia motorcycle with a group of other motorcyclists east along Scotsdale Road.

The motorcycle left the road and struck a tree, throwing the man from the motorcycle.

He received critical injuries and died at the scene.
