Premier Barnett opens sports pavilion in Shire of Mundaring

Deputy Shire President Patrick Bertola said it was a great honour to have the Premier at the ceremony.

“The Elsie Austin Oval Pavilion will provide our local sporting clubs with a space to socialise and relax after a hard day on the field,” he said.

“This was a community-driven project and the Shire notes the hard work and effort by the council advisory committee to help design the building and develop the project to this point,” Cr Bertola said.

The $1.1million project began in September last year.

“It is the first of four major infrastructure projects (in the Shire of Mundaring) due for completion between 2016 and 2017,” Cr Bertola said.

Other projects in the pipeline are redevelopment of Mundaring Community Sculpture Park, the new community hub at Boya and Mundaring Indoor Recreation Centre.

The event followed the Premier’s opening of a children’s playground at Morgan John Morgan Reserve in Glen Forrest.

Cr Bertola said Glen Forrest Resident and Ratepayers Association representatives were instrumental in the project design.
