AN animal rescue group is calling for volunteers to shake a tin and help fund a retirement home for senior dogs.
Perth Hills-based Best Friends Animal Rescue is appealing for many pairs of hands for its first street appeal throughout the metro area on Friday, October 30.
Founder Jeane Howes said any time volunteers could spare would make a difference.
“We want to provide a calm and peaceful atmosphere for about 30 older dogs we are unable to re-home,” Ms Howes said.
The group has placed more than 700 dogs, mostly older pets, in homes over the past 10 years.
Anyone able to give time to the campaign, donate or willing to help build the new rescue facility should contact Jeane on 0415 779 610.
Among the older dogs in need of a new home is Lizzy, a small and sociable shih tzu crossbreed. For more, visit www.bestfriendsanimalrescue.com.au.
