Mt Helena Voluntary Bush Fire Brigade will escort Santa on his Christmas Day delivery.

SANTA will be escorted by firefighters on his early morning deliveries on Christmas Day in Mt Helena.

Volunteers from the local bushfire brigade are expecting to deliver dozens of gifts from 7.30am until noon.

Packages for the special delivery need to be clearly labelled and addressed before being dropped off to Helena Post Office.

Santa is accepting deliveries to the post office in business hours from December 11 to 21. He has requested easy to handle parcels because the fire vehicle will be replacing his traditional sleigh for the Mt Helena leg of his deliveries.

Local brigade secretary Aaron Thredgold said children should keep a look-out to be sure not to miss him and waiting under shade at the gate.

“As he has a long way to go and a lot of people to see, he will not be able to go up driveways and cannot wait too long if children are not present,” he said.
