Shire of Mundaring President David Lavell said engaging youth in local government was important.

“Our youth of today are digital natives; they were born into the world of technology and it’s clear to see they readily embrace it,” he said.

“The Shire is keen to engage with them on platforms they are comfortable with and this includes Instagram.”

Cr Lavell said young people aged 13 to 18 were eligible to enter and be in with a chance to win a mini iPad.

To enter, take a photo or short video of what you enjoy doing in your local area and send it to the Shire on Instagram using the hashtag #whatthehilludoin.

The competition has been extended until Monday, April 4 and teenagers are required to have parental permission.
