AS a part of September’s Young Creatives Month, the Shire of Kalamunda is looking for young artists interested in displaying, and selling, their artwork in a professionally-acclaimed gallery or entering an online youth art competition.
Local community groups also have an opportunity to get involved, with the Shire encouraging groups to put on creative events, or activities, linked to their own programs.
Shire president Andrew Waddell said the Young Creatives Month combined a number of successful youth events from recent years, including the Youth Arts Fest and the Jam Packed Film Festival.
The Youth Arts Fest Exhibition is open to young artists aged 16-25.
Free gallery space is being offered at the Zig Zag Gallery from September 2 to 18 for selected artists to display and sell their work.
If you are an interested artist, you need to live, work, study or participate in a club/group in the Shire of Kalamunda to apply and have a minimum of five artistic pieces to display and sell.
All artistic mediums are accepted including sculptures, paintings, drawings, mixed media, jewellery and clothing.
Young artists aged 12-25 are also invited to submit their artworks for the Youth Arts Fest Online Art competition.
Works will be displayed in an online art exhibition with over $400 of cash prizes up for grabs. Again, all artist mediums are accepted but do require a clear image of the work to be entered.
For young people under 12 years of age, there is also a poster competition.
Applications for both the Youth Arts Fest Exhibition and Online Competition close on Monday, August 8..
