Shire of Mundaring against third party appeals on DAP decisions

Lynn GriersonHills Avon Valley Gazette

MUNDARING Shire will advise the Western Australian Local Government Association it does not support third party appeal rights for decisions made by Development Assessment Panels (DAPs).

Councillors voted 10-1 with the recent recommendation proposed by officers in response to a request for feedback from member councils.

The Shire said the planning process represented third party views sufficiently under existing legislation and recommended increasing local government membership in DAP rather than introducing third party appeal rights.
