THE contract for the design and construction of the $10.1 million Mundaring Indoor Recreation Centre has been awarded to Belmont-based Pindan.
The four-court indoor stadium will be built alongside the existing hard courts and cater for hockey, netball and basketball and have the capacity for volleyball, badminton, futsal and other indoor sports.
It will also be able to be used as an emergency evacuation and recovery centre.
The State Government committed $3 million to the centre as part of an election promise made in 2013.
Construction will begin in early 2016 and be completed in 12 to 18 months.
